Pitch your chemistry-led innovation to the UK Angel Investment Community
We have collaborated with the UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA) to give EnterprisePlus companies an opportunity to pitch for investment. Our aim is to connect the UK’s leading chemistry-focused start-ups and scale-ups with angel and early stage investors!
Since 2017, the Investment Catalyst has presented 55 EnterprisePlus companies using chemistry to revolutionise health, energy and the environment, food and drink and enabling technologies.
If you are an investor interested in attending one of our pitching events or would like to find out more about pitching your technology at our next event, plase contact us.
About the UKBAA
UKBAA is the national trade association for angel and early-stage investment, working with 160-member organisations and 18,000 investors across the UK, enabling cutting edge start-ups and scale ups the opportunity and tools to connect with experienced investors to support their growth.
UKBAA’s members include angel networks, syndicates, individual investors, early-stage VCs, equity crowdfunding platforms, accelerators, professional advisers and intermediaries. UKBAA acts as the voice of the angel investment community and strives to build and connect the angel investment ecosystem so as to ensure a coherent landscape for financing high-potential entrepreneurs.
After a competitive application process, we will select up to eight companies together with the UKBAA.
The UKBAA will work closely with the chosen companies to help them prepare for their pitch
The selected companies will attend an event to present their pitch for investment to an invited audience of investors, angel syndicates and groups and VC funds. There will be plenty of opportunity to connect with the investors post event.
We run two pitching events a year.
To be considered for this event, you must be:
- A UK based company, utilising chemistry based IP as a core part of your business.
- Able to demonstrate some commercial traction either through trials, proof of concept, partnerships or sales.
- Able to justify the effective deployment of investment ranging between £100k and £3m.
- A scalable business capable of significant commercial growth.
- EIS or SEIS eligible.
- Able to commit time to pitch training and refinement, this may include a training day in London.
- A member of, or be willing to join, EnterprisePlus - the Royal Society of Chemistry's support service for SMEs (free membership for eligible companies with under 250 employees).
The final companies will be chosen based on one or all of the following factors:
- Their stage of readiness to present to investors
- Their ability to convey the commercial impact their IP has on their respective market.
- The attractiveness of the overall proposition to investors.
To date, the Investment Catalysts’ cohort of businesses have raised a total of £4.5m in funding from attending investors, and we’re thrilled to have seen an incredible exit from one of our finalists at a phenomenal £623m!
