Speaker Information:
Sophie Carr is Programme Director and Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science at Northumbria University. Prior to joining Northumbria University she was a Senior Forensic Scientist with the Wetherby Laboratory of the Forensic Science Service. Her role was that of a scene attending scientist with expertise in the analysis and interpretation of body fluids and DNA, including blood pattern analysis. The majority of her daily caseload involved the investigation of sexual, violent and major crimes ranging from assaults to undetected murders. During that time she amassed nine years experience providing statements and expert witness evidence for criminal investigations at Crown Court. In addition, during the latter part of her career, she managed two forensic teams, specialising in Violent Crime and Sexual Offence Investigation.
