E. W. 'Bert' Meijer

Bert Meijer is full Professor in organic chemistry. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Groningen in 1982 with Prof. Wynberg as supervisor. He was research scientist with Philips Research from 1982-1989 and DSM Research from 1989-1992. In 1992 he was appointed Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology. Since 1995 he has been visiting Professor at the Universities of Nijmegen and Leuven. In 1998 he was visiting Professor at Beckmann Institute at the University of Illinois. His research interests include synthetic and physical organic chemistry, macromolecular chemistry and stereochemistry. His group in Eindhoven is performing research on the following topics: Dendrimers and novel architectures, Supramolecular chemistry, Organics with unconventional electro-optical properties and Stereochemistry. He is recipient of the 1993 gold medal of the Royal Dutch Chemical Society. In 1995 he received the Arthur K. Doolittle Award of the ACS. In 2001 he received the Spinoza Award of the Dutch Science Foundation.
