Advisory Board

Shaojun Dong

Shaojun Dong, Professor of Chemistry at Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and an advisor in the State Key Laboratory of Electroanalytical Chemistry, is the Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Developing World ( TWAS ) since 1999. Professor Dong's research interests are interdisciplinary, mainly focusing on design, fabrication and characterization of functional surfaces (Chemically Modified Electrodes) by various specific techniques, spectroelectrochemistry, with in situ measurements, such as EC-UV-vis, EC-CD, EC-SPR, EC-STM, ECL, and ultramicroelectrodes for the study of electrocatalysis, electroanalysis, bioelectrochemistry and biosensors. She has worked on controlling the molecular architecture at electrode/electrolyte interface in order to get the desired biosensing , biomolecular recognition, loading and releasing of drugs, direct electrochemistry of proteins and electrocatalysis with more than 450 papers published, which are significant in the fields of life and environment sciences. Prof. Dong pioneered the potential sensors based on conducting polymer film modified electrodes. Using cryohydrogel, sol-gel and graft copolymers she has prepared a composite film on the electrode surface, leading to the third generation of biosensors, and also the biosensors worked in the extreme environment especially in pure organic phase.
