Xiao-Ming Chen obtained his BSc degree in 1983 and MSc degree in 1986 under the supervision of Prof. Hai-Fu Fan from Sun Yat-Sen University (previously translated as Zhongshan University), Guangzhou, and his PhD in 1992 under the supervision of Prof. Thomas C. W. Mak at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. He then joined the faculty at School of Chemistry and Chemical Enigeering, Sun Yat-Sen University and become a professor since 1995. His current research interest is in the synthesis and crystal engineering of functional metal complexes and coordination polymers, as well as in situ metal/ligand reactions. He has published more than 200 research papers, invited reviews and book chapters.
