Start up Photoshop and follow the steps given below:

  1. From the "File" menu select "New...", and set the dialogue box fields as shown below. The "Width" value shown (8.3 cm) is for single column width illustrations - for double column width images use a "Width" of 17.1 cm. Take care to set the units correctly. Then click "OK".

  2. Create your image in the workspace created, utilising the full width available. Avoid cropping the image, changing the image or canvas size, or changing the resolution - these are already set correctly for RSC use.
