Start up Photoshop and follow the steps given below:
- From the "File" menu select "New...", and set the dialogue box fields as shown below. The "Width" value shown (8.3 cm) is for single column width illustrations - for double column width images use a "Width" of 17.1 cm. Take care to set the units correctly. Then click "OK".

- Create your image in the workspace created, utilising the full width available. Avoid cropping the image, changing the image or canvas size, or changing the resolution - these are already set correctly for RSC use.
