Sucession Planning: Skills for Tomorrow

15 January 2009, Preston, United Kingdom

Introduction
The first Chemical Elements of 2009 will kick off this year's series of events with a look at how investing in training can help your business to succeed especially in these precarious times.

It has been widely publicised over the past few months that those companies who invest in training during an economic downturn are proven to be more successful. We will be hearing from two companies with different approaches to the training and development of their employees, to ensure the future success of their businesses.

Firstly Peter Tirrell from Brunner Mond will review their recruitment and development model based on recruiting older, more experienced workers with a positive attitude and developing their technical skills.

Following this Phil Bather from GrowHow will discuss their approach to "whole job development” rather than just technical competence development.

A third speaker (to be confirmed) will talk about the general recruitment required by the industry and how we can develop new blood in order to meet the future needs of the chemical sector and make our businesses sustainable for the future.
