Professor Andrew Whiting will present an evening lecture on a new business centred around gin. Gin is enjoying a major resurgence in interest, and like the micro brewing industry, a number of new producers are bringing a new approach to developing imaginative products. This talk documents the background and development of a novel business venture into taking a new look at a very old drink!
 
Andrew Whiting studied for his undergraduate degree and PhD in Chemistry at Newcastle University, before working in the chemical industry and finally becoming an independent academic at UMIST. He is currently Professor of Organic Chemistry at Durham University, with research interests in the development of new chemical methods and applications in both general and natural product synthesis.
