KS5 Chemistry and art workshop

22 February 2017 14:00-16:00, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
Behind the scenes at the National Gallery there is a team of scientists who work to not only preserve the paintings on display, but to unlock the mysteries of the paints and pigments that the artists used to create their spectacular works. Guided by a Gallery educator, we will consider why transition metal complexes and compounds are important to artists. The workshop also explores paintings as objects and analyses the physical and chemical changes they go through, as well as investigating these changes and the chemical processes involved.  Curriculum Links - Redox, Modern Analytical Techniques, and Transition Metals.

Please note this workshop is free, however a cancelation fee will be charged by the National Gallery.
