How chemistry can shape your future and our world

Introduction
From building better cities to producing more food for a growing population, chemistry is crucial for solving the challenges facing our planet.
  • Students and teachers will hear from a range of speakers about how they now use the skills and knowledge gained whilst studying for their chemistry degree in their careers, both in and out of the lab.
  • Attendees will have the chance to talk to all our speakers during a networking session after the talks have finished.
  • Attendees will have the chance to talk to representatives and students from local university chemistry departments - University of Manchester & Manchester Metropolitan University.
  • Students can enter a poster competition about how chemistry can tackle the global challenges.
  • Teachers can access tailored advice on Royal Society of Chemistry online resources, including careers info, teaching resources and practical work in our teacher zone from a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry's Learn Chemistry resources team.
This event is suitable for students between Yr9-13 and teachers teaching chemistry at secondary level.

Confirmed speakers from: BASF, AstraZeneca, Unilever, MEL Chemicals, Bruker, University of Manchester & Liverpool, Innovate UK and an apprentice from SI Group.
Registration
Registration will be via the Registration Form which can be downloaded from this event page and emailed to katayune.presland@manchester.ac.uk once completed.

16:30 - 17:00  Short talks about "careers in the lab"
17:00 - 17:30  Short talks about "careers out of the lab"
17:30 - 18:15  Refreshments/Judging of posters/Teacher zone

Refreshments will be provided.  Please let us know if anyone attending the event has any allergies or dietary requirements on the registration form.
