Life After the Reactions are Over: Metal Materials Circularity of Spent (Electro)Catalysts Workshop

21 March 2024 08:30-16:00, Otaniemi, Espoo, Finland

Introduction
Many of the catalytic materials needed to drive the green transition to a fossil-free energy future and to help mitigate climate change are based on finite metal resources like nickel, cobalt, platinum, copper, iron, and manganese. Moreover, catalysts are becoming increasingly complex as new inorganic/organic material combinations are found to provide enhanced efficiencies compare to earlier multi-metal alloys.

This workshop will address the need to explore issues related to the future long-term sustainability and circularity of materials used in catalysis applications including raw materials availability, approaches for reactivation or direct re-use and methods for valuable metal recovery at end-of-life.
