The groups CF3, SF5 and SCF3 behave in the theory of substituent effects as resonance acceptors; when this should be pictured in resonance formulae, it is necessary to use the no-bond formulae/negative hyperconjugation. These formulae predict correctly that the bonds to fluorine are weakened and elongated.
