Our databases provide high quality chemical information for chemistry academics, professionals and students.
On this page
A comprehensive database of the marine natural products literature, covering new and revised structures, synthesis, ecology and biological activities. Features flexible searching and powerful dereplication tools based on predicted and experimental data.
The Merck Index* Online
For over 130 years, the most authoritative and reliable source of information on chemicals, drugs and biologicals. Now available online and fully searchable with over 12,000 monographs, including new and historical records not available in the print edition.
A free database of over 115 million chemical structures, properties, and associated information. ChemSpider integrates data from hundreds of sources, and includes additional properties, related information, and links back to original data sources.
Literature updating services
Our Literature Updating Services were retired at the end of 2022.
The Royal Society of Chemistry has always been proud of creating high-quality Literature Updating Services that help researchers in the chemical sciences community with their work. However, it has become clear that with the ever-changing needs of the community and advances in chemistry data tools; Analytical Abstracts (AA), Natural Product Updates (NPU) and Synthetic Reaction Updates (SRU) (and its predecessors: Catalysts and Catalysed Reactions (CCR), and Methods in Organic Synthesis (MOS)) were no longer at the forefront of chemistry data searching. As such, we have taken the difficult decision to retire these databases and also the two health and safety databases Chemical Hazards in Industry (CHI) and Laboratory Hazards in Industry (LHB).
In December 2021, AA, NPU and SRU received their last content updates moving to an archive status (CCR, MOS, CHI and LHB have all been static archives since 2018).
- Why have you retired these products?
There are many more advanced search tools that have become available in the past few years and are more relevant to researchers.
- Can you continue to make these products available as static archived resources?
We are not able to make these products available as static resources.
- Can I download the data?
We are open to requests for commercial licensing of the content from these products and other data that we have, any requests should be sent to the sales team.
- I have another question, who should I contact?
In the first instance, any questions should be sent to our sales team.
