Since 1857, Burlington House has been the Royal Society of Chemistry’s London residence. In 2010, we opened our doors as a venue, offering a distinctly different opportunity for those looking for a unique and convenient setting for events.
We’ve hosted conferences, seminars and symposia, promotional events, award ceremonies, private functions and more. With many successful events behind them, our Venue team are well established, providing everything you need to make an impression.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we invest all profits into advancing the excellence of chemical sciences. So as well as being an unforgettable occasion, your event will also support future research and discovery.

Take your pick of six separate rooms over two floors, or hire them as a suite. All, including our famous library, have natural daylight and air conditioning, as well as WiFi access and presentation facilities.

Library

Science Room

Fish Room
- A ground floor room, overlooking the courtyard and fountain
- Adjacent to our main entrance
- Suitable for meetings of up to 20
- Can combine with the Science Room as a dedicated catering or reception space
Council Room
- Central, first floor location with views over the courtyard
- Features include artwork from our historical collection
- A beautiful setting for meetings, receptions and workshops
- Flexible capacity, from meetings of 25 to receptions of up to 80 people
Priestley Room
- A smaller room, set back from the activity of the courtyard
- Recommended for board meetings, intimate dining and business lunches for up to 20
- A quiet, personal environment and historic feel
Hinshelwood Room
- Home to many valuable works from the RSC Historical Collection
- The smallest room, ideally suited to group discussion, break-out sessions and meetings
Harbour & Jones are our expert in-house caterers. When you plan an event at Burlington House, everything is tailored to you – especially the food.
The Harbour & Jones events team includes outstanding chefs, sommeliers and mixologists, as well as experienced events staff - who work with some of the best suppliers in the business to present a truly bespoke service.
Menus encompass imaginative tailor-made food and catering solutions are second to none, you can be sure your event will be one to remember.
We can provide tailored packages especially for your event. If there are special requirements, we're on hand to advise and ensure that all needs are met within the preparation and throughout your event.

From start to finish, we’ll work with you to make arrangements, advise on layout and logistical features, welcome your guests on the day and create an atmosphere that will ensure that your event becomes an occasion that keeps everyone talking.
Technical and conference equipment
All of our rooms include Wi-Fi access and presentation facilities. Upon request, we can also provide poster boards, flip charts, note pads and pens – as well as conference phones and Skype facilities.
Both the Library and Science Room have a built-in PA system, with lectern, roving and lapel microphones.
Technical support and additional requirements such as livestreaming, can also be arranged with our preferred external suppliers at an additional cost.

Part of our service is to make sure you don’t have to spend time searching for furniture or decorations for your event. Let us know what you need, and we’ll use our expert suppliers to find you:

Wedding reception
Your staff were friendly, smart, efficient and flexible to the needs of the guests. They are a tribute to your managers. The library and the anti-room are a superb venue and the tables were beautifully decorated. The food was excellent and well served.
