BSc Environmental Forensics, MSc Environmental Analysis and Assessment, PhD Environmental Chemistry
I currently work as an academic for a UK university and for an environmental consultancy based in North America. I have expertise in the analysis of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), including multidimensional chromatography and high-resolution mass spectrometry. This involves determination of legacy POPs (e.g. PCBs) as well as emerging pollutants including PFAS and HFRs.
I have experience with multivariate statistical analysis to identify specific sources of pollutants and age date contamination events. I have performed assessments on soil, water, sediments and biota (including human exposure).
I have worked for serveral years in the UK contaminated land industry as well as undertaking litigation-based investigations in France and North America. I have performed a number of different investigations with local industry to provide bespoke analytical services beyond those provided by most commercial laboratories. These have involved determining the effectiveness of remediation technologies, or concentrations of unknown pollutants in samples. We have recently established a nitrogen-based gas chromatography trace analytical unit so clients are welcome to trial this to see if its worth them switching from helium-based chromatography.
I am able to offer support with litigation cases through our consultancy firm, provide support with sample analysis through the university and data interpretation through my own consultancy company.
