RSC-IPE journal to facilitate knowledge-sharing internationally and across disciplines
The Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, have partnered to publish a new journal entitled Industrial Chemistry & Materials.
The new journal publishes significant research in the areas of industrial chemistry and materials, with a particular focus on the important achievements of low-carbon intelligent chemical industry and functional materials. As an interdisciplinary journal, Industrial Chemistry & Materials (ICM) aims to provide an international academic communication platform for researchers, engineers, policymakers and more, to stimulate inspiration, solve problems, and accelerate the applications of science and technology.
Collaboration is key to great science, and the new partnership underlines the RSC’s commitment to sharing knowledge internationally as well as across disciplines. The journal is gold open access, meaning this cutting-edge research will be instantly accessible around the world, and will be led by Editor-in-Chief Professor Suojiang Zhang, the Director of the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Professor Suojiang Zhang said: "Chemical industry and materials science is entering a new green, high-value, intelligent era. ICM features application-driven chemistry and functional materials innovation. We hope this journal will be the premier home for papers related to industrial chemistry and materials, with a vision of stimulating inspiration, solving problems, and accelerating the application of science and technology."
Dr Emma Wilson, Royal Society of Chemistry Director of Publishing, said: "This journal launch captures a significant moment, both cementing the building of our relationship with an institution of the importance of IPE, as well as our ongoing commitment to the wider chemical sciences community in China. International collaboration is more important than ever, so we are proud to play our role in providing a new home for research that will directly address contemporary real-world challenges in chemical engineering."
The Institute of Process Engineering
Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IPE, CAS) is a world-class institute with a solid scientific research foundation in the field of industrial chemistry & materials. Founded in 1958 and based in Beijing, China, with more than 1000 faculty and staff. IPE has pioneered the field of process engineering in China. It has expanded the application of chemical engineering principles into the fields of energy, materials, resources and biology from chemical metallurgy of its initial stage. In recent years, facing the need for industrial carbon neutrality, IPE has been committed to building a new model for the integrated development of science, education and industry from fundamental researches to applications. It initiated the establishment of the Innovation Academy for Green Manufacturing, Chinese Academy of Sciences, covering nearly 20 relevant institutes and units inside and outside CAS, with the mission towards a more green, intelligent and high-end chemical industry.
