Going Digital with Chemistry World
The Royal Society of Chemistry is taking action to reduce its carbon footprint as part of our commitment to hit net zero emissions by 2040 in conjunction with the UN Race To Zero. We’ve provided members with the opportunity to help us reduce our footprint by unsubscribing from the print edition of Chemistry World and accessing the magazine digitally.
At the Royal Society of Chemistry, we know the chemical sciences will play a pivotal role in solving the challenges associated with sustainability, climate change and developing a more circular economy. We know there is a unique opportunity to position our subject and profession at the heart of these solutions whilst also addressing the desire of our members, communities and staff, to take action on these challenges.
One of the challenges we face is our carbon footprint and we have committed to the UN Race To Zero to ensure we reach our goal of net zero emissions by 2040. One of the ways we’re cutting our carbon footprint is via Chemistry World: we have provided members with the opportunity to opt out of the print edition of Chemistry World and access the magazine digitally instead.
If you would like to support the RSC in reducing our carbon footprint, all you need to do is sign into members.rsc.org and go to ‘My communities and subscriptions’. You can then unsubscribe from Chemistry World in the ‘My journals and magazines’ section. You will be able to access Chemistry World at chemistryworld.com and sign in with your RSC membership ID and password to view a range of content.
Accessing Chemistry World digitally provides you with more content that you may not be able to access through the print version. All the latest content is published first on the Chemistry World website, and you’ll see many more articles that may not appear in the print edition. Members also have access to the whole Chemistry World archive of over 8,000 articles to check out. You also have access to exclusive RSC member benefits, which gives you much more insight into key reports and information that is beneficial to you and your work.
A variety of podcasts and webinars can be listened to and downloaded through the Chemistry World website, including the popular Elements podcast and the Building a Better Chemistry Culture webinar series in partnership with the RSC’s Inclusion & Diversity team.
Chemistry World has also created themed collections in partnership with Notch Communications, where you can find themed content that showcases the innovations and innovators in chemistry-using industries. The content promotes and celebrates chemistry, its diversity, and its importance in improving lives and solving global challenges.
You can also sign up for the Re:action newsletter through Chemistry World.
