Autosampler of gas chromatography

All aspects of the technology and system are covered - from an overview of a typical HPLC system and important considerations when combining this separation technique with detection by mass spectrometry, all the way through the various atmospheric ionisation processes and the different mass analysers that are available. The main focus is on fundamental concepts, but important practical aspects and some basic troubleshooting will also be introduced. All of which will have an impact on day to day analyses in the lab.

Session 1 | Runtime - 120 min.

  • Introduction to LC-MS and HPLC
  • Ionisation – APCI
  • Ionisation – APPI
  • Ionisation - ESI

Session 2 | Runtime - 114 min.

  • Quadrupole Mass Analysers
  • Triple Quadrupole Experiment Types
  • Time-of-Flight Mass Analysers
  • Ion Trap Mass Analysers
  • Magnetic Sector and Orbitraps
  • Mass Analyser Applications

Session 3 | Runtime - 78 min.

  • HPLC-MS Considerations
  • ESI HPLC Considerations
  • APCI HPLC Considerations
  • Introduction to the Detector
  • Vacuum Pumps
  • Analyte Enrichment and Vacuum Maintenance

Session 4 | Runtime - 78 min.

  • Resolution and Mass Accuracy
  • Interpretation
  • Method Development

Each video session is accompanied by supporting modules from CHROMacademy and we will use the animations within CHROMacademy to clearly illustrate the science and processes that are being discussed. All four sessions should be completed in order to gain the full training. The final assessment must be completed in order to gain your certificate of completion.

Course Delivery & Duration

  • 4 video sessions each session is between 1-2 hours long
  • Tutor supported with access to our chromatography experts
  • Supporting training material
  • Course assessment with certificate

Our CHROMacademy tutors will deliver four video training sessions which you can access on demand. They will provide online support and tutoring where necessary.
