Register of Qualified Persons

The United Kingdom pharmaceutical industry sets high standards in research, development, manufacturing and testing. The Qualified Person, who is responsible for certifying the suitability for release of every batch of a pharmaceutical product, requires specialised training and experience in order to fulfil the requirements of this role.

The RSC, the Society of Biology and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society assess the eligibility of their members for QP status on behalf of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) of the Department of Health, and the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) of the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

Each of the three professional bodies maintains a Register of its members who are eligible to act as Qualified Persons.
