Polymer Study Tours

18 June 2017 14:00 - 5 July 2017 16:00, United Kingdom

Introduction
The Polymer Study Tours are four day residential courses which will tell you everything you could ever want or need to know about polymers and the UK Plastics Industry.  They are open to trainee and practicing 11 to 19 teachers and are free to attend.  In addition, this year we are thrilled to announce that we are able to offer a contribution of up to £200 towards the cost of cover or transport.
The courses are a mixture of lectures, lab classes, workshops and works visits and in addition to the formal programme there is time for you to network with the other delegates and experts.
In 2017 the course will be held as follows:
Edinburgh Napier University  18 to 21 June General course
London Metrolpolitan University 25 to 28 June D&T focus
University of Manchester 02 to 05 July Science focus
If you are unable to make the course most relevant to your subject you are of course welcome to attend one of the others.
All accommodation, meals, refreshments and transport between the start and end times of the course are included free of charge, you just need to get yourself to and from the venue, and all delegates receive an attendance certificate and a memory stick of resources after the course.

Sponsorship & supporting organisations
It costs around £850 per delegate to run the Tours, but this huge cost is offset by the generosity of the polymer companies and organisations  who provide sufficient sponsorship to allow the us to offer the courses free of charge to teachers.

In 2016 the Tours were sponsored by: BPF Polymer Distributors and Compounders Group, Advanced Insulations PLC, BPF Vinyls Group, Distrupol Ltd., Manchester Polymer Group, RPC Containers Ltd, Scottish Plastics and Rubber Association, AkzoNoble, Aliaxis, BASF PLC, BPF Energy Limited, BPF Pipes Group, British Polythene Industries PLC, Covestro, Gabriel Chemie, Ineos Europe, Negri Bossi, Nuplex, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery (UK) Ltd., Tangram Technology and Victrex Polymer Solutions.

Organised by
The Polymer Study Tours were initiated by the Worshipful Company of Horners in 1987 and they remain the primary sponsor.  The British Plastics Federation and Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining both offer significant administrative support and the courses would not be possible without the tremendous amount of time given by the three centres that play host to the Tours.
