Natasha’s Law – Allergen Information for Food Sold PPDS

25 July 2019 14:00-15:00, Reading, United Kingdom

Introduction
Following the outcome of the industry-wide consultation proposing changes to the requirements for the provision of allergen information for PPDS foods, DEFRA announced their decision on 25 June. This review was prompted by the tragic death of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse and the new regulation will be named in her honour – Natasha’s Law.

DEFRA’s decision is that businesses providing foods that are PPDS must provide full ingredient labelling to allow consumers to easily identify whether a food is safe for them to eat. Businesses will have two years to comply with the new legislation, which is due to come into force by summer 2021.

This is a huge change for the industry and presents a number of challenges, particularly for food business operators who regularly adapt their recipes and the ingredients they use.

In this webinar, we will be looking at what these changes mean to food business operators and the challenges they may face as a result.

Topics that will be covered include:
  • Definition of PPDS – what is in and out of scope?
  • The implications and potential challenges for food business operators
  • Key considerations for meeting the new requirements
