This group, which was established by Dr Stephen Robinson in 1999, organises social events for retired members within the Chilterns & Middlesex Section and their partners.
Each year two lunches are held at Burlington House and two visits to places of interest in and around London are arranged. The Burlington House lunches are preceded by a talk on a topic of general interest given by an invited speaker, and regularly attract a capacity attendance of fifty.
Topics covered at past lunches include Global Warming, English Wine Production, Mineral Collecting and The History of the Royal Institution. The visits to places of interest include a guided tour and are usually preceded by lunch (optional) taken at or near the venue. Recent visits have included Somerset House and Bletchley Park WWII Code Breaking Centre.
The activities of the group are listed on the section website and programme cards. Full details are given on a flyer posted twice yearly to those on the group mailing list. Members who would like to join the mailing list and receive copies of these flyers are invited to send their contact details to Dr S D Robinson.
