Course description

This course is taught live in a virtual classroom through interactive, instructor-led training with instrument parts and consumables shown and explained. Small group sizes with plenty of opportunities to ask questions through live Q&A.

This module identifies the different considerations when selecting a GC detector for a particular application and provides a brief introduction into many types of universal and selective detectors used in gas chromatography. The course covers in detail Flame ionisation (FID), electron capture (ECD) and thermal conductivity (TCD) detectors.

At the end of the course, delegates will have learnt how to select an appropriate GC detector and have knowledge of many different types of detectors that are available for GC and how they work.

This is module 5 of the Virtual Classroom Training: Practical Essentials of GC & GC-MS (total 19.25 hours) and the Virtual Classroom Training: Complete GC & GC-MS (total 32 hours).

Pre-requisites

This course is for those who have limited knowledge of gas chromatography and would like to learn more about this particular section of the instrument.
