Publishing Board

It identifies areas in which to maximise potential surpluses; alongside those areas where the RSC’s charitable purpose might warrant delivering at a lower surplus or even, for a period, at a deficit.

It seeks to apply a commercial mind-set to how decisions are taken. The Publishing Board will also oversee the publishing strategy of the RSC, keeping under review performance against strategic goals, delivery against financial targets and monitoring the quality of science published and the publishing policies used across the operations whilst being mindful of the reputation of the Society.

Science and Publications Committee

The primary function of the Publishing Board, Science and Publications Sub-committee is, under the direction of the Publishing Board, to advise the Publishing Board on all science and quality matters concerned with the Society’s publications and data products.

The committee advises the Publishing Board on how best it may meet the current and developing needs of authors and users, and contribute to chemical science as a whole and to the financial health of the Society. The Science and Publications Committee is a sub-committee of the Publishing Board. Working practices for the Committee will be agreed separately with this Board.
