Measuring and Characterising Batteries Workshop Main Image

Join us for this measuring and characterising battery materials workshop designed to provide both industrial scientists and academic researchers the essential knowledge and hands-on skills needed to analyse battery materials. Battery research and development is among the fastest-growing industries worldwide. The safety, performance and lifespan of a battery are directly influenced by the quality of its materials. This workshop provides the skills needed to characterise electrodes, separators, slurries, electrolytes and cells to ensure peak performance, safety and longevity.

This workshop offers the opportunity to explore the intricacies of battery material development, providing practical insights and hands-on experience using latest Anton Paar instruments. The workshop will involve theory and practical sessions.

Master the Science of Optimal Battery Performance:

•In-depth Characterisation Techniques: Learn to measure and evaluate crucial physical properties of battery components, including dry battery electrodes. •Hands-on Training: Gain practical experience with various characterisation techniques, including particle size, pore size, rheology, density and surface analysis. •Expert-led Sessions: Benefit from insights by Anton Paar's experts in Material Characterisation, focusing on new methods for electrode adhesion and mechanical property.

Key takeaways:

•Maximise Battery Performance and Lifespan: Understand the role of Surface Area, Particle size & Porosity in characterising battery material performance. •Achieve Ideal Slurry Properties: Learn how to produce and maintain high-quality consistent slurries, using rheological characterisation of flow behaviour. •Guarantee Electrolyte Quality: Discover methods to ensure the safety and quality of your battery electrolytes. •Mechanically Test Finished Electrodes: Gain the skills needed to perform mechanical testing on final products. •Unlock the Power of X-ray Diffraction: Utilise X-ray diffraction for battery powder and cell characterisation. •Networking opportunities

In this course, you will learn about characterisation possibilities of battery materials and the benefits from using multiple techniques.

The methods presented will include:

•Powder Rheology  •X-ray Diffraction (XRD) •Surface Area (BET) & Porosity Characterisation •Solid Density Analysis; including Gas Pycnometry for skeletal density •Particle Sizing and Imaging  •Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)

Who should attend:

This workshop is designed for academics, scientists, engineers and technologists looking to start or deepen their understanding of battery material characterisation and optimisation, and to explore the latest advancements in the field.

Workshop format:

The workshop will be delivered in-person by our application and product specialists. Lunches and coffee breaks will be provided by Anton Paar UK.
