Biography

Professor Ana Rodriguez-Mateos is Professor of Human Nutrition at King’s College London. Her research programme focuses on identifying optimal dietary patterns to improve public health and prevent non-communicable diseases, with a particular emphasis on applying advanced analytical approaches to nutrition science. Key interests include the bioavailability, metabolism and health effects of dietary (poly)phenols, their interactions with the gut microbiome, and the development and validation of biomarkers of dietary intake. Her methodological expertise spans human dietary intervention studies with cardiometabolic outcomes and the application of analytical tools such as LC–MS for the characterisation of food and biological samples.

She is Programme Director of the BSc in Nutritional Sciences and Research and Innovation Academic Lead in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at King’s College London. She is also a founder and co-chair of the Special Interest Group on Phytochemicals and Health of the Nutrition Society, and serves on the Royal Society of Chemistry Food Group Committee. She is a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr), Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She won the Nutrition Society Silver Medal Award for excellence in Nutritional Sciences in 2023.
