Biography
Aninda Jiban Bhattacharyya is a Professor at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He obtained his Ph.D. from Jadavpur University, Kolkata and had post-doctoral stints between 2000-06 at Ben Gurion University, Beer Sheva, Israel, University of Ulm and Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart, Germany.
Professor Bhattacharyya is a JC Bose National Fellow and Fellow of IAS-Bengaluru, NASI-Prayagraj, and INSA-New Delhi. He is a recipient of the C.N.R. Rao National Prize for Chemical Research of CRSI, MRSI Medal, Indo-American Frontiers of Science Award and A.V. Rama Rao Foundation Prize Lecture.
He is an active publisher in peer-reviewed journals of ACS, RSC, Wiley, Elsevier, and Springer-Nature. Some of his important works have been published in Energy & Environmental Science, Chemical Science, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Small.
Professor Bhattacharyya’s research group primarily focuses on studying diverse materials, electrochemical processes and systems of relevance to energy and environment. His current research activities span across various battery chemistries, focusing on materials design, and prototype development. In addition, his research encompasses electrocatalysis of relevance to gas redox and carbon capture. Apart from materials development and scaleup for commercial production, he uses operando characterization techniques in-house and at the synchrotron to delve deep into materials function and underlying device function.
