Antoni Llobet
ICIQ
Biography
Antoni Llobet is a Group Leader at the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) in Tarragona. He obtained his PhD at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and carried out postdoctoral research with Thomas J. Meyer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), where he worked on molecular catalysis and electron-transfer processes.
He subsequently held research and academic positions in Europe and the United States, including at Texas A&M University (TAMU) and the European Commission in Brussels, before establishing his research program at ICIQ. His group focuses on the development of homogeneous molecular catalysts and their integration onto conducting and semiconducting surfaces for energy-relevant transformations, particularly light-driven water oxidation and CO₂ reduction, with the aim of advancing artificial photosynthesis and solar fuel production.
