Biography
Bhavik Patel is Professor of Clinical and Bioanalytical Chemistry at the University of Brighton. He completed his BSc in Chemistry at the University of Brighton and his PhD at Imperial College London. Following postdoctoral research at Imperial College London, Michigan State University and the University of Calgary, he joined the University of Brighton in 2010 and was promoted to Professor in 2019.
His research focuses on the development of electrochemical sensors and biosensors for the detection of biologically important signalling molecules and biomarkers. His laboratory develops innovative analytical technologies, including 3D-printed sensing platforms, to investigate physiological processes, advance disease diagnostics and address challenges in pharmaceutical analysis.
He has received several awards for his contributions to analytical science, including the Royal Society of Chemistry Analytical Science Mid-Career Prize, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Science Award and the GlaxoSmithKline Emerging Scientist Award. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Fellow of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
