Biography

Biswajit Mondal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), where he joined in September 2021. He specializes in inorganic reaction mechanisms and the electrochemical conversion of value-added chemicals, with a strong research focus on harnessing electrochemical methods to upcycle waste plastics and biomass for energy and chemical transformations.

Dr. Mondal completed his M.Sc. at IIT Kharagpur and earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science under the tutelage of Prof. Abhishek Dey. He pursued postdoctoral research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, under the guidance of Prof. Shannon S. Stahl, and at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, with Prof. Menny Shalom, before joining IITGN. His interdisciplinary work advances sustainable chemistry through innovative catalytic processes and photo-electrocatalytic techniques.
