Hirotomo Nishihara
Tohoku University
Biography
Hirotomo Nishihara is a Professor at the Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR), Tohoku University, Japan. His research focuses on the synthesis, structural characterization, and applications of advanced carbon materials, particularly porous carbons and three-dimensional graphene architectures. His group has developed graphene mesosponge, a unique three-dimensional graphene material with high electrical conductivity, high oxidation resistance, and mechanically deformable nanopores. His research explores the use of advanced carbon materials in electrochemical energy storage and conversion systems, including lithium-ion batteries, lithium–oxygen batteries, and supercapacitors.
