Iris Yu

Biography
Iris Yu is interested in developing resource-efficient approaches for converting biomass into value-added products as sustainable alternatives to fossil-based commodities. Her research focuses on microwave-assisted processing, heterogeneous catalysis, and integrated biorefinery. Before joining NUS, she served as a Research Assistant Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a Humboldt Fellow at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of York, UK. She has received awards such as L'Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Singapore 2024 and MIT Technology Review Innovator Under 35 (TR35) Asia Pacific 2023.
