Biography

Linn Leppert is Professor of Theoretical Materials Science and 125th Anniversary Chair at the University of Birmingham, School of Metallurgy and Materials, with prior positions at the University of Twente, the University of Bayreuth, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Her research focuses on the development of first-principles numerical simulation methods for understanding excited electronic states in complex semiconductors, including halide perovskites, with applications in photovoltaics, optoelectronics, and quantum technologies.

Among other honours and roles, Linn was awarded a Feodor-Lynen Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, an International Research Group grant from the Elite Network of Bavaria, and a Vidi grant from the Dutch Research Council (NWO). She was a member of the Young Academy of Europe, where she served on the board from 2021 to 2024 and is now a member of the Advisory Board, co-founded Computational Science NL, and is part of the Scientific Advisory Committee of Psi-K.
