Biography

Professor Qiang Liu currently serves as Deputy Dean of the Department of Chemistry at Tsinghua University. He began his studies at the College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University in 2003, earning his Bachelor's degree in 2007 and his Ph.D. in 2012 under the supervision of Professor Aiwen Lei. He then conducted postdoctoral research at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis in Germany with Professor Matthias Beller supported by Humboldt Research Fellowship. Since joining Tsinghua University as a principal investigator in 2015, his work has focused on the coordination chemistry and catalysis of metal hydride complexes, and their application in sustainable organic synthesis.

His honors include NSFC Distinguished Young Scholar (2022), Asian Core Program Lectureship Award (2023), Organic Chemistry Frontiers Emerging Investigator (2024), the Second Prize of Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation Award for Young Scientists (2024), Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award (2025), and Beijing Science and Technology Award — Zhongguancun Award for Outstanding Youth (2025).
