Biography

Rafael Verduzco is the A.J. Hartsook Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Associate Department Chair of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Rice University. He leads a prolific research program in polymer science, covalent organic frameworks, and bioelectronics, with an applications in separations, water treatment, and environmental monitoring. His research emphasizes polymer synthesis and the use of multi-scale characterization tools to address fundamental challenges and develop innovative materials that can be translated to real-world applications. After earning his B.S. from Rice and completing his M.S. and Ph.D. at Caltech, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, he returned to Rice as faculty in 2009. He has been recognized with numerous honors, including the NSF CAREER Award, ACS Stanley C. Israel Award, and election as a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
