Biography

Sergey is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of the National University of Singapore. He received his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry in 2015 from the University of Barcelona, Spain, and his M.Sc. degree in Physics in 2009 from the Novosibirsk State University, Russia. From 2016 to 2019, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia.

In his research, Sergey focuses on the rational design of thermal and electrochemical heterogeneous catalysts and the exploration of the effects of nanostructuring on their properties using density functional theory and machine learning. Sergey was awarded a fellowship from the National Research Foundation, Singapore, for his studies of metal-oxide interfaces in catalysis.
