Biography

Dr. Shuhui Sun is a Chair Professor at the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), Montreal, Canada. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE). He also serves as Vice President of the International Academy of Electrochemical Energy Science (IAOEES).

His research interests focus on electrode and electrolyte design for energy conversion and storage, including batteries (lithium-metal, metal-ion, metal-air, and solid-state batteries), fuel cells, green H2, and CO2 reduction. He is also interested in interface engineering and in situ/operando characterizations.

His contributions to the field have been recognized by numerous awards, including the INRS Planet Award for Research Excellence (2026), INRS Research Chair (2026), Lash Miller Award from ECS Canada (2023), International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IAHE) Excellent Research Award (2021), Canadian Catalysis Lectureship Award (2020), ECS-Toyota Young Investigator Fellow (2017), and IUPAC Novel Materials Youth Prize (2017). He has also been recognized as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher.
