Sophie Orchard

Biography

Sophie is the Deputy Editor for our flagship journal, Chemical Science. She joined the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2020 as a Publishing Editor after completing a Master of Chemistry degree at Keele University, where she studied the use of perovskites as catalysts for the electrochemical oxidation of phenols in aqueous solutions. Before taking on the Deputy Editor role, Sophie worked across a range of RSC journals, including Energy & Environmental Science, Polymer Chemistry, MSDE, Biomaterials Science, Natural Product Reports, and RSC Sustainability. 

Outside of work, Sophie enjoys playing netball in her local league, running, and spending time with her cat, Bilbo.
