We have £750,000 available over three years to support projects focused on addressing systemic racism in the chemical sciences and creating lasting change.
We are inviting project proposals from chemical sciences departments in the UK and Ireland. For single-department applications, the grant amount can be from £10,000 to £60,000.
To apply for larger grants or in case of co-applications between multiple departments, please contact our team first.
Projects should look at improving the representation, progression and retention of chemical scientists from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds, and support a culture of allyship and belonging.
Grant projects can run between one and three years, starting between 1 August and 31 September 2023.
Deadline and Eligibility
The Missing Elements Grants Scheme is open to all chemical sciences departments in the UK and Ireland, which includes departments of chemistry and of adjacent disciplines working at the interface of the subject.
The application window for this grant scheme is now open and will close on Wednesday 31 May 2023 (5pm UK time).
This grant scheme only accepts departmental applications, and a letter of support from the Head of Department will be required as part of the application.
The amount granted to each successful departmental application will vary depending on the proposal and the overall number of applications.
The person leading on a successful proposal will be required to engage regularly with us throughout the grant duration and meet clear deliverables and deadlines.
You can find detailed information about eligibility, grant aims, selection criteria and timelines in the Request for Proposals document, which you can download below.
