ChemComm journal cover

ChemComm publishes short, exciting Communication articles from all areas of the chemical sciences. As the Royal Society of Chemistry’s most cited journal, it has become one of the most trusted journals in chemistry for 60 years. Our publication times are amongst the fastest in chemistry. Researchers typically receive a first decision on their peer-reviewed manuscript within three weeks of submission.

Scope

ChemComm publishes urgent, new research of outstanding significance and interest to experts in the field, while also appealing to the journal’s broad chemistry readership. ChemComm is part of the RSC’s family of high impact general chemistry journals, alongside Chemical Science and Chemical Society Reviews.

Our Communication articles are easy to read and digest, allowing readers to quickly and easily understand the main points of your research. Communications can report a stand-alone piece of research, or exciting results at an early stage of an investigation. They do not need to be full or extensive studies. We also publish two types of review articles: Feature Articles and Reviews.

Our Communications have a strict limit to ensure they are concise. Up to 3.5 pages may be used for the title, authors and main text up to and including conclusions. These sections must not go beyond the end of the first column on page 4. An additional max. 1.5 pages is available for Conflicts of interest, Data availability and Author contributions statements, Acknowledgements, and the References section.

This updated page limit enables authors to include a full reference section whilst maintaining the concise nature of the Communication. For more information visit our author guidelines where you can download the new article template which is required for all Communication submissions.

Our scope covers all topics in chemistry, and research at the interface of chemistry and other disciplines (such as materials science, nanoscience, physics, engineering and biology) where there is a significant novelty in the chemistry aspects.

  • analytical chemistry
  • catalysis
  • chemical biology and medicinal chemistry
  • computational chemistry and machine learning
  • energy and sustainable chemistry
  • environmental chemistry
  • green chemistry
  • inorganic chemistry
  • materials chemistry
  • nanoscience
  • organic chemistry
  • physical chemistry
  • polymer chemistry
