Micropipette dropping liquid into test tubes

This classroom-based course provides strategies to develop and optimise methods for liquid chromatography and LC-MS along with knowledge of advanced techniques for analysing complex samples.

This course is packed full of examples and practical tips and includes questions throughout the course and a Q&A session at the end of the day.

The course looks at how to plan and organise the method development process, looking at the components to be separated and strategies for the required sensitivity, selectivity, specificity and the speed of analysis.

The individual components of the HPLC & LC-MS system are then reviewed including sampling techniques and parameters for optimisation. Delegates can then use this knowledge to work through practical method development case studies. Following this, course looks at the steps of method validation, system suitability and the benefits of accreditation.

The day ends by taking a brief look at advanced techniques that can be used for complex samples including detector selectivity and specificity, UHPLC vs. HPLC (brief introduction to method transfer), chromatographic peak deconvolution using tandem mass spectrometry, multi-dimensional LC (LCxLC), on-line SPE and chemometrics.

Prerequisites

This course is for those who have a basic knowledge of liquid chromatography and would like to greatly enhance it. Beginners should attend our Absolute Basics of HPLC & LC-MS course first.

Additional information

Includes: lunch and refreshments; hard copy of the training manual in colour; certificate of attendance; ability to ask questions and discuss own problems.
