This course covers all the essential knowledge and practice to start developing methods and analysing samples using liquid-liquid extraction. The course covers the theory, method development, optimisation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the technique by mixing presentations with lab exercises. This hands-on course is 50% theory and 50% practical in a lab environment, with a small group size for focused support.
This is day 1 of the Hands-on Sample Preparation course.
The course covers all the practical theory of solvent extraction, partitioning, solubility, miscibility, sample preparation, matrix modification including pH adjustment and the choice of relevant apparatus.
At the end of the course you will have gained knowledge and hands-on practical experience of using the technique to analyse samples, transferring one or more compounds from one liquid into another, how to optimise method parameters and perform instrument set-up, and common troubleshooting problems.
Prerequisites
This course requires good knowledge of GC (or GC-MS) or HPLC (or LC-MS)
