This course covers all the essential knowledge to start developing methods and analysing samples using liquid-liquid extraction. This is module 1 of the Practical Essentials of Sample Preparation course. The course covers all the practical theory of solvent extraction, partitioning, solubility, miscibility, sample preparation, matrix modification including pH adjustment and the choice of relevant apparatus.

At the end of the course you will have gained knowledge of using the technique to analyse samples, optimise method parameters and common troubleshooting problems.

Prerequisites

This course requires good knowledge of GC (or GC-MS) or HPLC (or LC-MS).
