The group provides a central focus for the development of basic, strategic and applied electrochemistry. It plays a central role in the organisation of the Electrochem Conference series, which has established itself as a central forum for discussion and debate.

About this prize

The RSC Electrochemistry Group and Alvatek are responsible for this award. The award aims to support PhD students in advancing their electrochemical research. It includes consumables supplied by Alvatek, up to a total of £1000, a visit from Alvatek and registration costs for Electrochem. 

The awardee will present the research described in the paper at Electrochem each year. Conference registration costs are covered by the award.

Applicants for this award must be studying towards a PhD in a UK or Irish university or research institute, in the broad area of electrochemical science, and should not have submitted their PhD thesis by the application deadline. 

The applicant must not be related to or supervised by an employee of Alvatek or a member of the RSC Electrochemistry Group committee (current or within the two years prior to the consideration of the award).

Scientific quality and alignment with the field of electrochemistry. The panel will consider scientific quality, novelty, feasibility within the timeframe and potential for impact.

Applicants should fill in the SmartSurvey application form by the deadline. 

The application form will ask for a short summary of the context of the project and its alignment with the field of electrochemistry, a brief justification of the consumables you need for the project, information about other support for your project and a brief description of how the award will benefit your career.

You must also have the support of your supervisor to apply for this award. Upon your submission of the form, your supervisor will receive an email asking them to approve your submission. Please also ensure that your supervisor is able to confirm their approval by the deadline.

Applications will be considered by a panel comprising three members of the RSC Electrochemistry committee and a representative from Alvatek.
