We have recognised excellence in the chemical sciences for more than 150 years and we are proud of this legacy and history.
This prize is part of our archive that holds a digital library of our previously administered prizes, their history, and previous winners.
The Surfaces and Interfaces Award was for outstanding and innovative research on the behaviour of chemical systems at surfaces or interfaces. This award was discontinued in 2020, as part of a series of changes introduced following an independent review of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s recognition programmes.
The prize was established in 2008 and was supported through a donation from the Charities Aid Foundation arising from a bequest in the Will of Patrick Meares. In 2021, the purposes of this Trust were amended, and remaining monies were combined with other generous bequests and donations to become part of the RSC Recognition Fund.
