Biography
Prof. Vishal Rai obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from IIT Bombay under Prof. I. N. N. Namboothiri. He subsequently held a postdoctoral and MITACS-Elevate fellow position in Prof. Andrei Yudin’s group at the University of Toronto, Canada. Subsequently, he joined the Department of Chemistry at IISER Bhopal in 2011, where his group is leading the development of chemical technologies for precision engineering of proteins. His research team is developing homogeneous bioconjugates for directed cancer chemotherapeutics and surgical oncology. Additionally, they are investing efforts toward small-molecule precision therapeutics.
He is the recipient of the J. C. Bose Fellowship, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award, Swarnajayanti Fellowship, Ramanujan Fellowship, CRSI Bronze Medal, CDRI Award, SERB Technology Translation Award, among others. He has served as a member of the ACS Editor-in-Chief search committee, an ECB member of ACS Chemical Biology, and an Advisory Board member of Chemical Science, published by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
