Biography
After completing his PhD, Professor Vivek Polshettiwar worked as a postdoc in France and the USA for a few years before starting his own independent group at KAUST in 2009. In 2013, he moved to TIFR.
During his career, he has been elected a Fellow Indian Academy of Sciences and has received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award, the Falling Walls Award in the field of Physical Sciences, a IUPAC-CHEMRAWN VII Prize for Green Chemistry, the Materials Research Society of India Medal, among many other honours.
Polshettiwar's nano-catalysis group is working in the area of nano-materials (metals, metal oxides, silica, titania, plasmonic metals) synthesis with controlled shape and morphology and their application as nano-catalysts to tackle climate change. His group's detailed exploration of plasmonic photocatalysis and defect engineering offers new perspectives on material design, catalysis, and sustainability.
