Isolation and characterisation of C60F16; a key to understanding fullerene addition patterns

Abstract

From the reaction between [60]fullerene and K2PtF6 at 465 °C we have isolated Cs symmetric C60F16, the structure of which provides fundamental information concerning the manner in which addition takes place to fullerenes.
