A new chiral open-framework borophosphate JIS-2 has been successfully synthesized in an ionothermal system. Its structure contains a three-dimensional anionic framework with intersecting 12-ring channels formed by interweaving helical chains. This chiral framework structure can be reduced into the well-known diamond net, which is achiral.

The reaction of SnBr with LiSi(SiMe3)3 leads to Sn10[Si(SiMe3)3]6 1, which is the first example of a metalloid cluster compound of tin synthesized applying the disproportionation reaction of SnBr. The structural and electronic properties of 1 are discussed with the aid of quantum chemical calculations as well as 119Sn Mössbauer spectroscopy.

A series of homoleptic, four-coordinate guanidinato-lanthanide(II) complexes [Ln(Priso)2] (see picture; Ar = 2,6-diisopropylphenyl, Cy = cyclohexyl) have been prepared and shown to exhibit coordination geometries midway between tetrahedral and planar. This contrasts with their bulkier analogues, [Ln(Giso)2], which have previously been shown to display planar or distorted tetrahedral geometries.
