Petrol problems
The RSC chief executive Richard Pike was interviewed by, and featured in, national news programmes and newspapers on the issue of petrol contamination.
Dr Pike was approached by the prestigious BBC Radio 4 Today news programme and in its wake BBC World TV News and Sky TV News requested telephone and studio interviews respectively.
He was quoted in The Times, The Guardian, and The Scotsman, BBC website and a range of other papers and websites.
Dr Pike was able to draw upon 25 years in the oil and gas industry was able to discuss ways in which contamination might have occurred and he discussed the properties of silicone - as opposed to silicon - which might have been at the root of the petrol problems afflicting thousands of cars in SE England particularly.
